Cemetery infrastructure condition intelligence · Ekurhuleni, Gauteng
Catch cemetery damage before families find it.
Ground sensors, rainfall data and photo reports go in. A ranked, plain-English list of walls, fences, drains and paths that need attention comes out. A human officer approves every job.
Illustrative condition scores
SIMULATED values for illustration.
What it does
Ranks inspection priorities, explains why, prepares work-order drafts.
What it does not do
Approve work, replace officers, or guarantee prevention.
Why this matters
Cemeteries suffer a slow cycle of neglect that becomes visible only when families arrive.
Weather damage
Waterlogging, erosion, collapsing walls.
Theft and vandalism
Fences, plaques and stones removed.
Neglect
Overgrowth, dumping, blocked paths.
Liability note: Hlokomela produces leads for human inspection, not findings of fault.
How it works
AI helpers
Candidate model families; identifiers must be checked against current provider documentation. Outputs on this site are simulated.
Scoring
Gradient-boosted risk model (e.g. on Amazon SageMaker) on sensor, rain and history data.
Advisory LLM
OpenAI GPT family or Google Gemini via Vertex AI writes the plain-English recommendation.
Pattern LLM
Long-context model (Gemini / Bedrock-hosted) finds repeat-damage patterns across sites.
Vision
Amazon Rekognition or NVIDIA edge inference checks field photos.
Human Reviewer (mandatory)
A named officer approves, modifies, rejects, escalates or requests a field check.
Cost range (estimate): roughly R2,000–R15,000 per month per metro for pilot cloud and model usage, to be confirmed in pilot.
This solution requires current AI models to operate; the models listed (or their current equivalents) are essential to the production system.
Interactive 3D model
STABLELegend: green/amber/red spheres = ground sensors; grey blocks = graves; brown block = boundary wall; floating sphere = AI scoring; walking figure = inspection officer.
How this model works. The scene is a small burial section. Sensors under the ground and along the wall report moisture and movement. As you raise rainfall, sensors turn amber then red and the AI scoring sphere grows. The badge shows the overall status. The officer figure leaves the direct path and walks around the worst-affected area. Assembly view lifts each part so you can see what makes up the system. Everything shown here is simulated.
